Games as a Reflection of Life,

Games and Life Lab

Who are we?
Understanding Human–Game Transformation
We study how digital games intersect with everyday life and shape human behavior and experience. Our research views games as extended environments where individuals develop identities, relationships, and social practices. Grounded in lifespan developmental psychology and game studies, we investigate how player behavior changes across different life stages. Through participatory design, we also create practical services that respond to the diverse needs of players, designers, and communities. By integrating research, social participation, and application, we aim to generate new insights into how games influence human development and society.
What are games?
Games as Spaces for Human Experience
Games mirror the dynamics of everyday life, where people compete, collaborate, imagine, and create meaning together. Through play, individuals explore emotions, relationships, and questions about identity and values. At the intersection of game worlds and lived reality, players make meaningful choices that shape personal and social perspectives. From this view, digital games function as developmental environments that influence psychological and societal change. By studying and designing human–game interactions, we aim to build more inclusive and transformative futures.
Where are we heading?
Designing Sustainable Game Futures
Games and Life Lab generates scientific knowledge to design sustainable game experiences and communities in which players can grow together. We pursue this goal by combining deep insights into human development with the responsible integration of emerging technologies. Ultimately, our work aims to support a future in which games enhance individual wellbeing, foster collective flourishing, and expand human potential.
